House Fly Infestation

What You Need to Learn About House Fly Infestations in Your Home

House flies (Musca domestica) are pretty common household pests in Northern California. When they catch whiff of anything rotting or sweet, they come buzzing into your home. A single fly inside your house is already quite bothersome, but if you find several, chaos can be expected to ensue as everybody tries to swat them or shoo them out.

There are instances, however, when you don’t see these buzzing pests come in – one day, they’re just already in your home zooming across the rooms, bugging everybody like crazy. The highest likelihood here is that you may have brought them home when they were still eggs. Most people assume that house flies enter through drains and that is not always the case.

Fresh produce actually have a lot of fly eggs (which can easily be mistaken for seasoning or any other kind of dirt) on them, especially if they were on open display at the grocer or market. If you do not wash and consume your produce right away, or if you do not take out your garbage daily, you give these eggs the chance to hatch into larvae or maggots. These small, legless creatures immediately move out of sight to get ready to develop from legless creatures into six-legged ones with wings inside a protective shell for about three to six days.

After this period of time, houseflies will then emerge from the cocoon to create a House Fly Infestation. If you’re unable to banish them from your home in the next few days, you give them the opportunity to populate because two to three days after becoming flies, the females become capable of reproduction. If they come in contact with the males, the house flies’ life cycle commences in the form of 75 to 150 eggs, and in a week or so, your home will be welcoming a new generation of flies.

House flies live only for 15 to 30 days, but they can ensure their population lives on during this short time period. So if you’re dealing with houseflies in your home, you better take an aggressive approach to getting rid of them once and for all. It’s not just that they’re bothersome to have around; they also carry a lot of germs and bacteria, and with all their buzzing activity, they can leave traces of these harmful elements all over your home, contaminating everything and compromising your family’s health. It’s best to call the professionals and have them take care of the problem – they have proven effective techniques to get rid of house flies.
